Tonight Tanya, my buddy Greg, his wife Sara and I are driving down to Pittsburgh for the weekend to watch a hockey game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
You may be wondering why we would bother to drive 6 hours to go see Toronto; who are life and death to make the playoffs and don’t deserve my patronage—those old, overpaid codgers—and Pittsburgh; who are currently the worst team in the league.
The main reason is that even with the drive down, the hotel and meals, and a couple of speeding tickets, we’ll probably spend less to go down and see our favourite hockey team play on the road, than if we paid to watch them in Toronto. The Pittsburgh tickets were a steal (compared to Toronto) and there were plenty to be had too—surprise, surprise.
Another reason is that Pittsburgh is the team of rookie phenom Sidney Crosby, future NHL superstar. So we’re going to see what the big deal about this kid is. Plus, we’ll be able to take in some sites in and around the Three Rivers area..
I’ll probably have plenty to write about when I get back.
So for now I’ll just say, Happy St. Patrick’s Day to all of you! Have a pint of green ale for me!

What are you thinking?
