I know it’s a little late, but I just wanted to wish my fellow compatriots a very happy Canada Day!
This past Saturday, July 1st, our country celebrated 139 years of Confederation. On this day in 1867, the British North America Act (Constitution Act) was created marking the beginning of the Canadian federal government.
Here are some interesting facts about our flag. Some of you may be surprised to find out that it’s a relatively new flag, only 41 years old.
From Me To You Too
I would also like to wish our neighbours to the south a happy belated 4th of July. Like siblings, we may not always see eye-to-eye, but we will be forever linked by a common border and bloodline.
Just like a younger brother, we get to criticize your mistakes, enjoy the protection that you provide, get your hand-me-downs, have more fun, more freedom and more hair than you.
No, we don’t need you to buy us beer, we started drinking at a younger age than you. Yes, we can supply you with pot, if only you could lighten up enough to enjoy it, and yes, we can even get you Cuban cigars.
No, we don’t sweat the little things like nudity or profanity on TV, we don’t understand what the big deal is with an exposed nipple, you should come up to one of our parties, you’ll see much more than that being exposed.
Yes we will probably choose to watch a hockey game over a NASCAR race, football, baseball or basketball game. I know it seems strange, we can’t explain it…the puck is right there…it’s the black thing on the white ice!

What are you thinking?
