It was only a week ago that I officially announced on this blog that Tanya and I were expecting our first child. It is at this point that most bloggers innundate their sites with accounts and anecdotes of impending parenthood. It is also usually at this point that I stop visiting said blogs as the material usually suffers.
Now while I have promised myself that it won’t happen here, I do take comfort in the fact that very few people actually read this blog and therefore the pressure to stick to mine own edict is really non-binding and virtually non-existent.
So…having said all of that…let me introduce to you…the one…the only…the yet-to-be-born…<Trumpets>…

Owen Emanuel Grego! (it’s a working title, but I think we like it)
Today Tanya and I went to the medical centre for her first scheduled ultra-sound—we don’t count the other first ultra-sound because it was an emergency. It was then that we found out that Owen was going to be a boy—good thing too, because he would have been teased incessantly if he turned out to be a girl, with a name like Owen.
We were able to count two arms, and two legs. We saw the heart beating to a strong and steady rythm, we saw his spine, head and face. Apparently, he wouldn’t stop moving. I’m also proud to say that my boy is hung like a mouse—which is very impressive at that age, considering he only weighs about 150g.
At first sight of the ultra-sound photo, my brother exclaimed, “Yup, he’s got the Grego head.” Tanya explained to him that all baby’s heads are that large when they’re that age. Hopefully, the rest of his body will grow into it—unlike his dad.
So, there you have it…I’ve broken a cardinal rule of blogging…I’ve posted a baby picture. Well…not really a baby picture…more of a fetus picture. Let the mass exodus begin!
