For a mellower side to PFTW check this tune out. Inebriation shows the dynamics of this band, and proves that we can groove too. It’s the fifth track on With Baited Breath.

Musically, “Inebriation” is looser than the earlier tracks. It pushes and pulls instead of staying locked in place. The rhythm feels like it’s constantly trying to catch up with itself, and the guitars drift between tight bursts and more unhinged stretches. We didn’t want it to feel clean—we wanted it to feel like it could fall apart at any second, but somehow doesn’t.

“Inebriation”……. The song immediately puts me in mind of early Who, especially the vocal energy. PFTW have developed a fresh sound of their own but are not afraid to let their influences shine through. They are confident and that confidence transforms into a tight rocking outfit!

Lyrics:

As I remember when we were young
And you were so sweet
Innocent and complete
Not a care in the world
As I recall you girl

So why don’t you just look at me
You were so upset
I will never forget
I could comfort you
We can start brand new
We could

No hurtful dreams pass through my mind
As it seems
It feels I’m running out of time
I can’t be seen
As I come clean
From this state of inebriation

I spend my life trying to get inside
But when you come by I just run and hide
And when you’re not there I just
Poor another beer
I feel low

I still remember your golden smile
As they spoke those words
They were so absurd
I was foolish then
If I could try again
I would

No hurtful dreams pass through my mind
As it seems
It feels I’m running out of time
I can’t be seen
As I come clean
From this state of inebriation

I spend my life trying to get inside
But when you come by I just run and hide
And when you’re not there I just
Poor another beer
I feel low

No hurtful dreams pass through my mind
As it seems
It feels I’m running out of time
I can’t be seen
As I come clean
From this state of inebriation

I spend my life trying to get inside
But when you come by I just run and hide
And when you’re not there I just
Poor another beer
I feel low
