Wayne’s Words of Wisdom
“Well there’s nothing better than a fart…except kids falling off bikes maybe. Fuck, I could watch kids fall off bikes all day, I don’t give a shit about your kid.”“If you can be a man at night, you can be a man in the morning.”
“If she’s always listening to your ass acoustics, or even worse smelling them. I guarantee she’ll be slower and slower to crawl into bed with you at night.“
“Keep the ladies guessing a little bit. Be the mystery man.“

Clip: [00:00:00] He got a bit banged
Allan: up after work the other
Clip: day.
Allan: It’s Thirsty Thursday, and that means we’re once again hanging out at the produce stand, a podcast paying tribute to the great Canadian show, Letter Kenny.
Tanya: Where’s the can open in that, uh, that clip?
Allan: Uh, I don’t know. Now I know, oh yeah, Matt didn’t open a can during that.
Tanya: I know, I was waiting for it.
Allan: Sorry,
Tanya: I’m already ahead of the game. You know what? I didn’t get
Allan: one. I needed to get one. That’s what I’m missing here. Now I know what you’re, what you’re thinking.
There are many other podcasts about letter Kenny out there, but this one is lactose free. I’m Al your host and joining me in the room as always is lovely Tanya and online we have squirrely Matt and the incomparable Victor. Welcome guys.
Victor: That was a bit of a mess of an intro, but uh, yeah. Can only get better from here. I’m just [00:01:00] all over the place today.
Allan: And like you said, before we started recording, maybe this is the episode where, you know, if we’re going to be this way, this is probably the episode to do it.
Victor: So, uh, If, if you’re going to get caught with your pants down, it might as well be this episode.
Tanya: Oh, no, that would have been the first one. Yeah. Wasn’t it the first one with the pants down? At the urinal.
Mat: Yeah, actually, it was the first one.
Allan: If you’re like Alexander and you have to go to the urinal. Yeah. So, uh, yeah, I was scrambling to get everything set up today because I was running behind. So I’m a little, uh, flustered right now.
Uh, but, uh, thank you for joining us on episode four of the produce stand podcast. Today, we’re going to be, it’s a little confusing because it’s our fourth episode, but today we’re going to be reviewing episode three of season one. Uh, somebody on, on, on Twitter got very confused with the episode numbering because, uh, because of this.
Mat: Yeah. I apologize for that. It’s going to keep that trend.
Allan: Yeah. We’re always going to be at least one [00:02:00] episode. Are we going to have
Tanya: to do two episodes, like one week, just to Set that no, cause then we’ll be put her. Oh, then we’d be all right. Right. I’ll keep up. I
Mat: mean, we’re going to skip an episode. I mean, it contains preference.
It was probably this one. This
Allan: should have been the leap episode. Anyway, uh, speaking of Twitter, we do have some new members, some new followers. So I just want to shut them out real quickly. Uh, welcome to Aussie stew, Aussie stew. Sorry. Uh, Galen Doyle, uh, Michael trail, Richard Stein, Willie, uh, Linda Dodick or dough ditch.
And a letter Kenny memes is following us now. So we’ll be, and that’s in addition to that’s in the addition to the followers, we shut it out last week. We didn’t lose any of this week. So thankful for that.
Mat: So we’re in a double digits now, right?
Allan: Oh yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We’re in double digit followers and double digit listeners, uh, listens, uh, plays or whatever, but, uh, and we’re, we’re creeping up on triple digits.
So yeah, yes. Let’s, let’s, let’s keep that going. [00:03:00] Um, before we begin, uh, Matt, how was your week?
Mat: It’s great, man. I got new flip flops.
Allan: That is noteworthy. Thank you for,
Mat: I mean, did
Tanya: you go to a store to get those or did you order online? What’s the, what’s the situation? Right.
Mat: Online. It was funny because I ordered, um, and I ordered a package with I think seven items and all in the same order and they sent it in four different packages from four different locations across Ontario.
That’s efficiency at its finest. That’s, that’s
Allan: a lot of work for flip flops.
Mat: I know. Right. But again, they’re, they’re, they’re heaven. So that’s why I’m excited. I get once a year, I’m a lot, I’m allotted an allowance flip flops and it came true this time. We’re about to go away next week to a cottage. So it was perfect timing.
And, uh, I’m, I’m floating on a [00:04:00] cloud right now as we talk.
Allan: Where are you going to, where’s the cottage?
Mat: Uh, North of Huntsville.
Allan: North, North of Huntsville. Nice.
Mat: North of Huntsville, yeah. Three Mile Lake, I think it is called. I don’t know. Never been, but it’s a rental. It’s getting the hell out of Dodge for a few days.
And, uh, it’s gonna be nice.
Allan: Very nice. So that, that next week you’re spending up there? Okay. So we’re going to be skipping a week is what you’re saying.
Mat: Uh, it’s kind of where we’re heading with that, but we’ll see.
Allan: How dare you take vacation
Mat: to be, to be confirmed.
Allan: You’re allowed to vacation, uh,
Mat: all in my, my week’s great. Cause of flip flops. So we’ll leave it at that.
Allan: Wow. It doesn’t take much. That’s good.
Mat: Victor,
Allan: how’s your week so far?
Victor: Yeah, it’s pretty good. Uh, it’s kind of my staycation week. Uh, so, so that’s, uh, nice and relaxing not having to do work, uh, every morning.
So that’s good. Uh, I had my wedding [00:05:00] anniversary, uh, on August 1st. Oh, muzzle time. Yeah, uh, 22 years.
Clip: Wow.
Victor: Congratulations.
Clip: Excellent.
Victor: Yeah. So that was, that was that, um, uh, exchanged, uh, my, uh, uh, providers from Rogers back to Bell. I just go flip, flip flop is the theme, I guess. So I flip flop back to
Mat: Bell. It was a very
Victor: exciting launch.
That’s what, that’s really
Allan: good. Now
Victor: I’m going
Allan: to have to think about a flip flop story for my, uh, my week, yeah.
Victor: Yeah, and, and really the most exciting part is, uh, yesterday I went, um, out to dinner with a friend, uh, we went to the Old Mill, uh, restaurant, uh, on, which is right on Old Mill Station for those of you, uh, who are not working right next to your, uh, to where you and Matt work.
Um, and, and the most exciting part about that wasn’t actually the restaurant, but it was getting there. Cause it was the first time I went on a bus and a subway [00:06:00] since, uh, March 12th. Right. So that was, uh, uh, you know what? And, and like, I went after a rush hour, right? Whatever that would be. And, um, Like around 6 30 in the evening, uh, headed out.
Um, and it was full, like it was full, like they have every second seat that’s blocked off, but every seat was already taken on a bus. So, like, if during rush hour would have been packed, so totally would not feel comfortable to be on that. And on the subway, you know, it’s 1 of these things, you know, obviously we have folks out there with mental health problems and stuff like that.
And that’s a serious, serious thing. Yeah. But, you know, I haven’t been on a subway in four months and I happened to pick the one car, the one subway, the one car and the one seat with a person that had, uh, you know, uh, certain, uh, it was challenged in certain ways sitting right, uh, right next to me. And, um, so that was quite entertaining for half of the ride.
Allan: You know what, Victor, I know you like to think you’re special and that the [00:07:00] world revolves around you, but I’m willing to bet. That there’s probably at least one of those people in every, uh, in every one of the subway cars. So you didn’t really, yeah, you know,
Victor: and I was thinking about that out and then I kind of thought, maybe this is a big problem that we think it is.
Mat: Now, Victor, did you go for dinner or did you guys go for high tea and don’t worry, no judgment here.
Victor: We went for it. No, no. We went for dinner. Like it’s a, it’s a patio inside. And um, so we had ribs and brisket and ribs and then I, Al, do you want to take that one? A patty inside? Yeah. . Well, I mean, no, you go into the restaurant, it’s called a rest of dining.
Room them out because it’s like a place where people get married. , . It’s a, it’s an outdoor patio, but you have to go indoors first.
Clip: Oh. Kind of thing. I see. Alright. That’s good. So, but
Victor: anyway, it, it, it was, it worked. It, it was, it was a really nice place I’d recommended and it’s, it’s not as expensive idea as you think it would be.
So, you know, like if you’re okay [00:08:00] with keg style prices, then this was around that, if not even less a little bit. Right. And it was very fancy and they look after you and, and it’s, it’s a really nice atmosphere.
Allan: Well, yeah, we know the old mill well, our employer has had our, our holiday party the last couple of years.
So, so there
Victor: you
Allan: go.
Victor: Yeah.
Allan: Very nice. Um, well, and are you, so Victor, you’ve got the game on, I think in the background.
Victor: I’ve been watching it right now. They, uh, it’s now three to two for Toronto. So it was three, nothing. Uh, so, uh, you know, third period. So we’ll see what happens.
Allan: And this is the Leafs versus the Columbus blue jackets.
Uh, the
Victor: blue jackets. He has those bugs. Yes.
Allan: The blue jackets. Oh man. It’s three, two. This is getting too close for comfort. Third period.
Victor: It’s the third period. And, uh, there’s 10 minutes left.
Allan: Well, feel free to interrupt any time with, with, uh, scores. Okay. Okay.
Mat: We’re talking about the hockey, right?
Allan: Yes. The hockey.
The hockey.
Mat: Yeah. Accurate.
Allan: And so even though I’ve spent [00:09:00] the week with Tanya, I’m going to let Tanya tell us how her week’s gone so far.
Tanya: Oh dear. Uh, work, work this week, half week. I’m off now. We’re on work share. So, uh, when I am on, I’m covering somebody else’s desk. And when I am off. Uh, somebody else covers my desk plus their own.
So we bit tricky to juggle, but, uh, Hey, I’m off now. So all’s well, all’s well.
Allan: Yeah. That’s interesting. Yeah. Well, it’s better than getting laid off, I guess. But, uh, the work, the work share thing is, is interesting because they’re still busy. Yes. And, uh, and still too much work to do. And yeah, the thing, Tanya, you, I won’t speak for you, but I think you find yourself, uh, working anyway when you shouldn’t be.
I,
Tanya: yeah, I’m taking on some, a lot of personal time working still and trying to, to keep up with it all. It’s hard to, to have my position and, and, and still give good, Care to people and, and keep [00:10:00] up with everything and, and only do that part time anyways.
Allan: We move on though, because this is supposed to be a distraction from work.
So
Tanya: I take another sip of wine,
Allan: uh, as, uh, uh, Wayne would say,
Clip: well, pitter patter, let’s get at her
Allan: last week. We reviewed season one, episode two, super soft birthday, and that episode received a fresh rating from Victor. Matt and myself and a clearance from Tanya, which has become her, her, uh, you know, high mark so far.
Uh, so this week, this week’s episode, uh, or homework was to review episode three, season one, Fart Book. Uh, Matt, did you do your homework this week?
Mat: So should I even show up if I don’t, like, I’m starting, there’s, there’s a lot of pressure coming into this week every time I feel like I’m back in high school.
And again, I am just as, uh, I delay just as much as I did in high school, where it’s like, I have this assignment. I know I’ve got like a month to do it and I keep saying, I’m going to do it. I’m going to do it. And then like three hours [00:11:00] before it’s due, I sit down and I do it. So I think I finished the episode 20 minutes ago.
Allan: Perfect.
Mat: Awesome.
Allan: Did that
Mat: all that to say, I tried. Yes. I watched
Allan: it. It’s a lovely wife. Watch it with you.
Mat: Uh, she did. Yeah, she’s doing her nails.
Allan: Was that her first time watching this episode or had she seen it before?
Mat: No, we, I told you, we binge watched the hell out of this thing a couple of years back. I mean, honestly, I didn’t remember this episode at all.
Allan: No. Well, this is the infamous episode that we’re all late. Well, we’re rolling our eyes about and not looking forward to, or at least at least Tanya isn’t, cause this is the one sheet. Her first, uh, um, experience with it when I was watching and she’s like, what the fuck are you watching? And it, it soured her on the show right from the beginning.
So this is the one where it’s not
Mat: a good starting episode. No,
Allan: exactly. This is the one we’re trying to cure her of. Um, but unfortunately we still have to do it. So, uh, Victor, have you done your homework?
Victor: Yeah. And you know, it’s great that Matt’s here because then I would have been the, uh, you know, Uh, the Class Clown, because I finished the [00:12:00] episode like an hour, um, an hour ago, so.
Oh, wow. Um, yeah, I mean, my, my goal is to watch it, uh, the night before, the day before, but things didn’t work out that way yesterday, uh, because I went out to the, to the restaurant there and, um. Uh, so I figured what’s the big deal? I’m off. I have all day to watch it. And of course, you know, uh, I kept finding excuses to not watch it.
And then I finally did just before we have to record. So
Allan: I have made watching Letterkenny a chore then is what you’re saying.
Victor: Well, you know what? It’s just because I have to do it. If I didn’t have to do it, then it would be different. You would have done it all. Yeah, yeah, I’m the same like Matt. I, you know, I just left everything to the last minute and, uh, that’s just, you know, I think a lot of
Mat: procrastination is a skill.
I don’t care what anyone
Victor: says it is. It is. And I always, you know, I always come through, um, and, uh, you know, and you can, you can ask if The quality is the same as it would have been if I did it, you know, a month earlier or [00:13:00] whatever, but who cares? It doesn’t matter. So Victor,
Allan: I’m glad you’re not my manager anymore because now you can, you can, I can, you know, honestly tell you I’m the same way.
Victor: Yeah. Well, I knew that out. I know you did. I could tell by what you were turning in.
I’m just joking. We’ve been winning all kinds of awards when we were working together. So it’s all good times. It’s all good times. That’s what he appreciates about you. That’s what
Allan: you appreciate about me?
Victor: And that line was used again in this episode. I’m now intrigued. I feel like it’s going to be in every single episode.
We should put that in. We’re three for three.
Allan: Yeah. We should have a count for that line, but there’s a few lines that are often used. Uh, Tanya, did you, did you do the homework?
Tanya: I did. You reminded me of it yesterday and I went, ah, shit.
Allan: All right. So here we go. We are going to review fart book. Now, are you guys ready?
[00:14:00] Ready? Ready. So. The cold open, the hicks are hanging at the produce stand, arguing over the best way to get rid of a tree stump, when Wayne and Derry get into an argument over whether Derry’s van was can pull the stump out of the ground.
Clip: So what are you going to chain it up to?
Allan: My van.
Clip: Won’t do. Why?
Because that might be a little too punk rock, Derry. What’s wrong with my van? Well, more than a coat of paint. Go on. More than two coats of paint. Get after it. Rear end differential, front end differential, alternator, battery. Doesn’t matter. She’ll perform. Fucking measure twice, cut once then, bud. You said yesterday it could win a demolition derby.
No, I never. I said yesterday it was fit for a demolition derby. No, you never. Ain’t no reason to get excited. It’s not what you said. You better settle down over there. I’m gonna come talk to you. You know what? There’s two things I don’t like about you, and it’s your face. There’s one thing you’re not gonna like about your own face.
It’s when I come over there and give it the beats. You boys ever have a peanut butter sandwich? You’re one end. You’re the other end. Stick is together and you’re just stuck. Really scraping the bottom of the yogurt cup for that nugget of wisdom, aren’t you? You [00:15:00] appreciates my metaphors, Katie. That’s what I appreciates about you.
Is that what you appreciate about me? Let’s take about five to ten percent off for over there, squarely down. Yep. So any other insights for us? Uh
Matt, if you wouldn’t mind a quick heads up from a fellow who’s about to steam presses Calvin’s.
Allan: Steam presses Calvin’s.
Clip: So
Allan: there’s two things I hate about you, Matt, and they’re your face.
So much gold in that. Probably the best part of the whole episode is right there.
Mat: It’s so good, and even that interesting, I just remembered, you know, deep down, I’m still six years old laughing at fart jokes, like it’s never going to stop. I feel like if you’re not laughing at fart jokes, you’ve officially grown up.
Allan: Uh, Oh, speaking of which, I guess Tanya and I had some official, uh, growing up, uh, signs this week, which are, were [00:16:00] very depressing. My, my, my TV died. So we had to go out and buy a new TV. And, uh, the, the choice was, uh, getting one that was, you know, a little bit larger and a lot more expensive or getting one that was a little bit smaller and, and, and within our price range.
And, uh, we were so like, the old us would have gotten the larger one because we would have, uh, you know. Said, Hey, you know, if, if you, if you average out per view and per use, it’s nothing, it’s only like, it’s pennies when, when you, when you think about it, but instead we went with the adult choice and we got the smaller TV.
Victor: Yeah. What do you consider small? Yeah.
Tanya: Yeah. I answer that question. So the
Mat: original
Allan: 70 inch. Okay. And the one we just got is,
Victor: I’m intrigued to see where this is going to go. And the one we just got
Allan: is a 65 inch.
Victor: All
Allan: right. I’m just going to get
Clip: out of here. Oh my God. I’d leave with uh,
Mat: eat dicks. Cause that’s not [00:17:00] Yeah, whatever.
That’s bigger than our big TV.
Allan: No, and well, that’s our big TV though. And, and Come on. Our big TV is 50 inches. The funny thing is No
Mat: problem. You just have a theater. It’s all good.
Allan: When, when I brought it home and my, my 13 year old son, he sees the box. It goes, you got a smaller TV.
Mat: He’s accustomed to that lifestyle.
That’s all you, you enabled it for years and now you’ve broken his heart.
Allan: Well, here’s the thing that for that first TV I bought with, with, uh, with signing money that I got when I got my job where we work now, Matt. So that wasn’t real money. That was just like. Bonus money. That was money falling out of a, you know, I take the blame on that one falling from heaven that that’s, that’s Victor’s fault for hiring me and offering me that this time around.
I had no such luck with any kind of bonus or any kind of, you know, uh, spare cash. So I had to be a little
Mat: bonus money. I clearly don’t know how to negotiate.
Allan: Yeah, you need a better man, a better agent.
Mat: [00:18:00] Anyway, back
Allan: to the recap, uh, so after the music rolls, uh, we come back from the opening theme to hear squirrely Dan with this little nugget of wisdom.
Clip: And that’s your lesson for today, folks. Farts always win. That right there was an air biscuit. That was a real ass flapper if I do say so myself. I’m fine, Colin Bowen. Some real rectal turbulence.
Allan: Rectal turbulence. Uh, so, and right after that, uh, Katie, because Wayne was, was being very quiet. She asked him what he, what his take was on it.
And that’s where the first there’s, there’s actually four Wayne’s words of wisdoms throughout this episode. So as much as the episode, we haven’t been looking forward to it. This one is full of wisdom and this is the first one from Wayne.
Clip: Well, there’s nothing better than a fart. Except kids falling off bikes, maybe.
Fuck, I could watch kids fall off bikes all day. I don’t give a shit about your kid. I don’t give a [00:19:00] shit about your kid.
Mat: That reminded me of, um, was it Big Daddy? Or, yeah, Big Daddy with Adam Sandler. Yeah, yeah. Going to the park watching rollerbladers fall over.
Allan: Yes, yes. It’s funny, this, this does become a thing, uh, Wayne’s dislike for kids, and, and, and it’ll be, become more apparent as, as the episodes go.
Victor, how’s the game?
Victor: Uh, we’re tied. Really? We’re tied. We’re tied. Let’s keep going. Let’s keep going. All
Mat: right.
Victor: Should we just
Mat: stop so you guys can go and mourn this thing?
Allan: It’s, it’s Boston all over again. All right. And then, inspiration hits Derry. Wish Gale could hear that part. I
Clip: got a couple pals who’d appreciates it, too.
Wouldn’t it be kinda neat if you could, like, catalog your farts? What for? Well, I feel like if other people could hear that crack splitter, it could have a positive impact on their lives. That might be the nicest thing everybody’s ever said about me. You should be able to keep track of and [00:20:00] record your farts.
And your friends farts. What, like Facebook? Exactly like a Facebook. Just like Fartbook!
Allan: Yeah, so that’s the premise of this episode. Uh, the Hicks are going to design or create Fartbook. Uh, what are your thoughts so far, Matt?
Mat: I mean, again, like I said, I’m like a six year old as soon as the fart joke started, I was, I was cracking up and always looking at me like I’m insane and I’m just laughing my ass off cause I’m a child, but that’s okay. But when I, but I mean, when it gets to the episode itself, I think what, what caught me off guard and probably in Montana, you can echo this is the fact that you want some depth and you didn’t get it here and I get it.
I mean, we started off episode [00:21:00] one, right? We had the, you know, Wayne trying to find himself. He was the fighter. He’s not the fighter. He needs to reborn. Episode two. He’s now going back for his belt. He gets it. Episode three. This is like, they ran out of ideas already three episodes in and it’s like, what the fuck are we going to do?
I don’t know. A fart joke is always funny. And they started and built a whole episode on it.
Tanya: I actually, you know what? I, I was thinking about this one. Cause yeah, as Alan mentioned, I, uh, I walked in on him watching this one. months ago and thought, what the hell are you watching? But you know what? I watched the whole thing from from beginning to end.
And I got to say, it actually surprised me. And I know that’s a wee bit shocking coming out of my mouth. But I, I, Yeah, I thought, you know what? I can just see the, the writers sitting around the table saying, you know, what’s funny, what’s classy, what’s, what’s classic comedy farts. I get it. And just like you said, that six year old, we will never stop [00:22:00] laughing about farts and I kind of still giggle.
I, I kind of, I kind of think that they, yeah. They did this kind of smart, which is really, I’m having a hard time saying the words.
Victor: You’re stealing my thunder, Tanya, but keep going. I
Tanya: kind of, yeah, I kind of, I’m gonna, I’m gonna go back on what, and you know what? I walked, I came in absolutely already hating this one.
And I gotta say, I walked away. Surprised.
Allan: There was one audible giggle from you during, uh, during our watching last night, which was more one more than we got in the previous episode. So that’s good. But I, I gotta say it maybe because I’ve, I’ve been watching, you know, preparing for this, I have to watch the episode more than a couple of times.
This one, this one here to me is, is so far. And, and because I’ve seen the whole series, it is the most one dimensional one note, one note. Uh, episode that they have and, uh, yeah, [00:23:00] maybe watching it as many times as I did is going to ruin it for me, but, uh, I’m going to be the descending voice here. I think, uh, Victor, did you chime in?
Victor: Uh, I loved it. Uh,
So, and, and I, I don’t think for me, this wasn’t this, this episode was not about farts. This episode for me, I didn’t, I didn’t laugh a single time due to a fart joke, but I laughed more in this episode than I had in two previous episodes. I thought this was, I had a really great time with it and I thought there was, um, uh, some character development here.
Um, I felt that. This, the, the fart was simply the thing, but it wasn’t about, it was about an idea and then building, um, you know, building something to carry that idea forward and, and then what, you know, in terms of kind of having that idea stolen and, [00:24:00] and I, you know, I don’t want to get ahead of myself because, uh, for me, some of the best moments are coming up.
Uh, I’m sure you can have some sound bites about it. I, I had a great time with it and I, and like I said, for me, I, it, you could have replaced farting with any other ridiculous, uh, you know, outer left field idea and kept kind of all the other elements of this episode. And it would, it would’ve worked just as well.
’cause I didn’t think it was the farting that carried the comedy. It was everything that was supporting the farting.
Allan: All right. Uh, I hear what you’re saying and, and I do agree with you. There is a bigger message in this episode. Um, maybe we’ll have the different views of what that message is, but we’ll get to it near the end, excuse me.
I just got myself a beer. So. Uh, excuse me for that. That was really, I
Victor: heard, I heard the opening and analog just to throw one quick thing, like going into this episode for me, the skids were a bunch of zeros, right?
Clip: Yeah.
Victor: Like they, they, they had no value. They had nothing to add except like, well, what the hell are these people?
And, and [00:25:00] right away you get to learn that way. There’s a little more to these guys. There’s some skill there and you know what I mean? So just, just. Like from that. So when I’m talking about character development, I’m talking about, you get to learn just a little bit more about, and now these guys throw throwaways anymore.
Yes.
Mat: You’re right. I’m going to crush your universe here, but let’s get into a couple of clips before I do so, because I’m a movie buff and there is no character development here.
Allan: Right. Okay. We’re going to get to that in quite a second, but you’re right. Victor, this one, this, this episode here is a big character developer for, for the skids for sure.
Yeah. This is the first time they get to shine. Other than just those meaningless scenes of them dancing out in front of, uh, the, the quickie mart. Anyway, uh, scene number two, the Hicks get to planning. Squirrelly Dan has some interesting notions about how the internet works. I love this one.
Clip: Step one, we got to build up the website.
I guess we gots to calls up the internet. Oh yeah, you got a phone number for the internet, Dan? Well, I’m pretty sure they added me on Skype a while back. I mean, I gots to check [00:26:00] my emails. Outstanding. Well, I have an idea. I’m gonna tap a few asses, but there’s a filler we know right here in town who can build us a website so we don’t even have to calls up the internet, you know?
Skip that, Dan. Right, we’ll skip the middleman, who is the internet. Easy, man. Rob Stewart. Hard no. You got some better idea? Better than going into business with a meth head? One or two? Now hold your goat to goddamn horses here. Let’s put it to a vote.
Allan: So do you have the number to the internet, Victor?
Mat: That was one of the best little, like, little clips of everything I’ve heard.
Like,
Victor: that takes this episode to number one alone. Really? Wow.
Allan: Okay. So remember that. That’s, that’s great. Yes. Uh, the internet, we have to call up the internet to create. That was
Tanya: like having a conversation with my mother.
Allan: Yes.
Mat: So, you know what, you know what it reminded me of? And again, again, this movie, this whole episode [00:27:00] was full of movie references to me.
This was exactly like the internship with Vince Vaughn. When he’s talking about putting pictures of putting them on the line.
Allan: Yeah. Yeah. On the line. That’s right. So the whole episode is a parody. There’s a bunch of parodies, small parodies throughout the episode, but the big parody is obviously the social network, the, the Facebook movie.
Uh, so a lot, a lot of the scenes, uh, parody that, but yeah, I didn’t even think about that, but yeah, you’re right, that, and there’s another parody later on that we’ll, we’ll talk about for sure.
Mat: Yeah, there’s a, there’s a bunch of good ones in this one.
Allan: And I just wrote down this production note here, uh, transition transitioning from scene to scene during this episode is a fart sound.
And like every time a scene changes, there’s a fart sound effect.
Tanya: I didn’t pick up on that. So
Allan: they really committed to the theme. Uh, and,
Mat: and I’m not, I giggled every time like an, like an idiot . And it’s, and, and here, here’s a, here’s a strange fact for me is it’s no different than if I eat asparagus. Next time I take a piss, I giggle every time.
Oh man,
Tanya: you and I are soulmates. [00:28:00] Like I love that. I,
Mat: I have this moment of, oh yeah, I had asparagus and I laugh. Oh,
Tanya: we do have to break, we have to break off from, from a little bit of this and just talk about our favorite fart moments in our lives.
Allan: We do have to, let me get into some TMI. I’m not sure I’m comfortable with sharing.
We got to go. Not with a current coworker, any former coworker. I don’t know about that one. No, except it’s going out to the internet on the line, on the line. Uh, my, my, my big note here was I feel like it might have been too early in Letter Candy Universe for a high concept episode, like you think about all the shows, like all the big popular shows and they’ll usually throw in a high concept episode every once in a while, like an episode that kind of, you know, follow, like, Goes away from their usual thing and does something and kind of dedicates itself to whatever [00:29:00] the idea is like there was a there was a lot an all live episode of er once and I think there was like a musical version of some some other show or whatever.
And so, and so, but like, this is like episode three and they decide to dedicate like a whole thing to farts. And, uh,
Mat: as I was saying, it totally stepped away from the story and just made its own little independent episode. It’s, it’s really, it was funny. I loved it, but it didn’t fit.
Allan: Yeah. Uh, all right. Yeah.
Wayne is outvoted by Derry and squirrely Dan. So they decide to bring Stuart on board. Uh, and that’s when we go to scene number three. Squirrely Dan tells a Squirrely Dan story about going over to his buddy Pete’s house of his cousins and Pete gets so drunk he pisses all over the house and himself. And then, I didn’t, I didn’t clip that clip, but the kids, the skids arrive after he finishes the story.
Clip: So it’s Facebook, but for farts. That’s right. Cartoonish. We’re in. But drop [00:30:00] the the. Just Fartbook. It’s cleaner. It was never a the. And we want 30%. A what? Amateurs. Money generated from the site. We’re not gonna be making any money off the site. Yes we will. Once we get enough members playing the butt trumpet, we will sell ad space and make a fortune.
Now, let’s talk about marketing. Who should we target to buy ad space on Fartbook? Indian food, Greek food, Asian noodle soup. What about ringtones? Instead of putting your phone on silent, you put it on silent. You’re an idiot. Wait, you’re an idiot.
Mat: So, all right. Devin spoke there.
Allan: Yeah.
Mat: He stole the show in this episode.
Yes.
Allan: His impersonation of Jesse Heisenberg or whatever. It’s
Mat: not even, it’s not even just that. What he just did there. He channeled Sean Parker, Justin Timberlake with that whole drop the
Allan: just
Mat: art book.
Allan: Yeah.
Mat: That is. Direct from the social network. Yeah. [00:31:00] So he bounces through all the characters.
Allan: And in episode zero, I believe I talk about, uh, the, the actor who plays Stuart, um, something Johnson, uh, being a revelation, like he’s a, he’s a really, really strong actor, this guy here, the guy who plays Devin, his name’s Alexander DeJordi he’s.
Another so good. He’s really, really good. Whenever you see him, like, uh, it’s easy to throw away his barking and, and, and some of the, the skiddy stuff that he does in those scenes. But when, when he has a chance to shine. And in this episode, there’s a lot of that of him. You’re right, like
Mat: he handled at least four different characters in this.
And, and I caught every one of them and I loved every one of them.
Allan: Yeah. So for sure, uh, kudos to Alexander DeJordi. He, uh, if you check out his IMDB profile, he’s got a lot of great credits under his name, most of them Canadian productions, but, uh, he’s, he’s a strong one. What did you think, uh, Victor?
Victor: Yeah, I, again, I, you know, we go from [00:32:00] being Part of the background, wondering what the hell are these, what is their role in the show and what are they doing?
Why are they doing it? Why do they, what is the, you know, and, and, and then you get to, you know, peel the onion a little bit on, on each one of them. And so I’m interested, you know, Matt, Matt’s kind of contradicting himself, you know, he’s like, well, you know, the, you know, There’s no character development, but when you have, when you, when you don’t, when you, when you’re starting at zero and you get a little bit of, you get a little bit of background, you can start to, okay, so that’s the hair color.
That’s where they grew up. That’s what, you know, uh, and we got a little bit about, about both of them. Right. So, um, and it’s very different too.
Mat: Yeah. So let me defend that. And the reason I say there’s no character development is what we’ve already said is this episode was. I don’t know how you described it out, but it’s like, it’s separate from the story that it really, it’s almost like you took these characters and said, let’s make a play, call [00:33:00] it the social network.
Only it’s the fart book network. And then they all played the roles within that. So you’re not really seeing in my eyes, them, you’re seeing them portraying characters
Allan: from the social, from
Mat: another, from another story, because the main message around this, it basically follows the timeline of the social network.
So that’s what I meant by, there’s no, you’re not seeing the true them. You’re just. Seeing them as letter Kenny, but playing a character for something else,
Victor: I guess, but they’re not pretending that it’s Facebook. They already Facebook in this world already exists. So they’re not pretending that they’re trying to create a parody of Facebook.
They’re saying, let’s take an idea that was successful and use it in a different way for a completely ridiculous thing. I am not. And
Allan: so here’s the thing. And Matt, I think what, what, what this showed those, the skids are, are geeks. They’re nerds. They’ll nerd out on, on what they’re really interested in. In this case, uh, especially, uh, Devin, he’s, it’s obvious he knows the movie.
Social network front to back. Oh, yeah. Because he, he kicks, he, he kicks into the [00:34:00] soliloquy all the time. Uh, inexplicably. So I, I don’t think so, I don’t think the episode is emulating that, but I think the character, at least, especially Devin, is emulating the movie because he’s, he’s all excited that they get to build this.
Facebook like app, right? So I see both sides.
Tanya: Yeah. The, the first, the first episode that we watched, I was, I was done with this guy. Like they were just, I didn’t get what they were doing there. I thought the whole dance thing was, was idiotic, but now just like Victor was saying, I see another side of them.
I see how they. work together, how they are, yeah, building something to get.
Allan: Yeah. It’s like big bang theory. What they geek out on, they geek out on big time. So, uh, it’s, it’s nihilism. It’s, it’s, uh, uh, electronica or industrial music. It’s movies like, like social network. And, and obviously they’re good with computers because they, they need to be.
And, uh, yeah, it’s, um, it’s interesting. [00:35:00] So I think both of you guys are on the right track. I think there is character development there more. We learn more about the skids. But Matt, it’s, it’s also still to me, a very one trick episode. But anyway.
Mat: Yeah. So what I’ll say to, to, to end that thought is if, if, and again, I don’t remember the future episodes, but if we see Devin and Steward and them stand out again in moments similar to this, okay, then I’ll revert and say, you know what, this was true to character development, but if we never hear from Devin again, and he kind of just goes back into.
No, you do we saw the first couple Devon becomes
Allan: Devon becomes a pretty okay. He’s a second. I don’t remember that. We’ll get there. Yeah, he’s skid number two. Uh, anyway, so, uh, during the negotiations, the skids, uh, demand, uh, 30 percent of, of the, uh, of the venture and all parties agree to terms. So scene number four, the skids return the next day to present the newly constructed fart book and dairy gets weepy seeing it all come together.
Gentlemen.[00:36:00]
Clip: I, I don’t, I, I just What’s wrong with you? Seen it all come together. Sort yourself out. Here’s what we’ve done. I am at this point, the only member of Fartbook. Each member will be able to upload three farts. Each member will post a picture to their farts. Members will then be allowed to friend request each other and accumulate audiences for their farts.
Farts. For example
My profile.
Allan: So, is that the [00:37:00] end of that clip?
Mat: We’re just waiting for another fart. No, there’s three. I thought there was another one. No,
Allan: there was three. So, there you go. Um, they present their, uh, fart book, uh, beta, or alpha. And, uh, I’m just gonna, if we spend too much time on each one of these, we’re gonna be here all night.
So, uh, the skids, or not the skids, but the hicks are impressed.
Clip: You know what, that’s, that’s,
Allan: that’s meant. Oof.
Clip: Like the, uh, little bull snort there in the middle there, Stuart. Really like the placement of the fizzler at the end. Thank you. Now, shall we sign one of you up? Oh, me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me.
Me. Me. Me. Me. Daryl! Fuck, shit! Wait a sec, can I go eat a quick can of Chef Luridee? Oh, no times! I can fart on command!
Allan: Uh, Victor, you’re, you have a very high opinion, uh, opinion of a squirrelly Dan from last episode. Has it changed?
Victor: [00:38:00] Uh, no, I mean, I, that’s kind of, you know, comes with the territory, right? Um, it’s, it’s just like, you know, some, somebody you, you think you have a lot of respect for, but then they’ll bend over and you see their ass crack, right?
You’re not going to change your opinion of them. And it’s like, you know, I
Allan: might change my opinion of them. If I, if that happened, I might, I don’t know.
Victor: But, but anyway, I mean, it’s, it’s, if there was any, any character that would have been picked for that role for that part, obviously it’s going to be him.
And, uh, no, I didn’t lose any respect for him. I, that’s, he, she’s, uh, you know, he, he stepped out to the plate and he had a, had a home run. So good for him. It was, you know, it was a sweet spot.
Allan: I think you pissed Matt off because he left the, uh, meeting.
Victor: Oh, did, did we lose Matt?
Allan: Uh, yeah, I just got a ping saying, Okay, sorry, I’m rejoining the meeting.
So, uh, he probably accidentally hit the wrong button or something. Let’s hope he
Victor: Maybe he tried to mute himself during a [00:39:00] fart. And, uh, she fell off the porch.
Allan: Oh, here we go. We have, we have Matt back. Was it something we said, Matt?
Mat: Um, buttons aren’t toys.
Allan: So I was right. You hit the wrong button. I hit
Mat: the, I hit the X and then it didn’t close. I was trying to look something up and I hit an X. And then it didn’t immediately close. So I hit X again, but it closed the first window. And then, of course, your window was the X below it. And it shut that down. So buttons aren’t brilliant,
Allan: but it’s
Clip: brilliant.
Allan: All right, moving on. So Dan wins the contest for being the first or the second person to create a fart book profile here. And so he points his ass at the laptop to record his three farts. It’s an awkward and revolting scene.
Clip: I Professional studio mic, but the internal computer mic will work for now. [00:40:00] Okay, Dan.
Ready?
Oh, very nice. Boy, howdy. On to the second one.
That was a winner. Some really nice work, Dan. Really nice work, Dan. Fuck is this awkward. On to number three. No, no, no. I can do better. I want to go again. No, no, I think you should keep it. No one likes a part that sounds too staged. Do you wanna know what? He’s right. If you think, if you think it’s a good idea.
That’s a good spread there, like Like it’s good spread.
Allan: It’s a good spread there. Like, yeah,
Tanya: that one he was pushing on. You could, they were all, you could hear the ground behind that one.
Mat: There was a short comment if he wasn’t careful. Yeah, I think that’s why he
Tanya: stopped and didn’t go with the third because they were, yeah, for sure.
Allan: All right. We’re just going to keep this moving. Then they discuss inviting a test audience. And, [00:41:00] uh, The Ginger and Boots comes up, which spawns further discussion of the logistics of ostrich fucking. Oh
Clip: dear. I suggest we, um, send it out to a test audience before it goes live. Um, get some feedback. Iron out the bugs.
Suggestions! Yeah, well, duh. What about The Ginger? Mmmmmm. What about Boots? Oh, um. The Ginger. You guys ever hear anything about that guy fucking an ostrich? I heard it was Boots who fucked the ostrich. No. Ginger fucked an ostrich. Allegedly. Let’s see, it’d take more than one guy to fuck an ostrich. You think they were both there?
Like Boots held down the ostrich? I suppose, if we really wanted to get to the bottom of it, we could find someone, someone who farms ostriches, who might know. How they get fucked. I don’t think we need to invite [00:42:00] them, though. We should get the hockey players in on this. Those D gens would lap this right up.
Maybe get Glenn. Get the Christians on board. Agreed. And, uh, we should also get Katie into the FACAS. I’ll talk to her. Fuck you will. Alright.
Mat: I love how painful it was for Wayne to just talk about that. Like, it’s like he knew how fucking deranged it was, and he was trying to spit out a sentence.
Allan: So, I suppose, if you really wanted to get down to it, yeah.
I’d love
Mat: I mean, ostrich is a powerful animal, let’s just call it What it is. Yeah.
Allan: Yeah. Uh, is it just me or the does the ginger and boots sound like a children’s program?
Mat: I think it’s awesome boots, isn’t it?
Allan: Yeah. In this case, it’s the ginger and boots and they have a ostrich mascot. Can you imagine that?
Uh, this is also our first time hearing Stuart’s tagline, Wondrous. We’ll hear that all the time too. So, uh, I’ve added it to the soundboard.
Victor: Wondrous! [00:43:00] Nice. Now, uh, Stuart sounds a lot like Jesse Eisenberg, the way he talks in this episode. Now, so is that because, again, they’re playing Matt’s, uh, You know, play, play scenario or is that kind of his character style going forward?
Allan: No, it’s, and it’s not. It’s, Devin is the one who does the Heisenberg impressions, I don’t think.
Victor: No, no, no, no, no, no. Not, not Heisenberg, Jesse Eisenberg. He’s the guy that played, uh, mark Zuckerberg and, uh, the social network.
Allan: Yes. I, they were, they were both kind of play acting for, for this. But Jesse Eisenberg,
Victor: that’s just who, that’s his.
Allan: Real self. That’s
Victor: how
Allan: Yeah, no, I know. It’s kind
Mat: of this awkwardness. He was in Zombieland and then a two other things. No, I know. Jesse’s actually a really good actor.
Allan: I know who Jesse, he Heisenberg is and, and Devin was the one that Eisenberg. Eisenberg, no
Mat: H whatever. Fucking drop the H Man. . This is not, was it the, Matt?
What’s the meth show?
Allan: Breaking bad. Yeah. Sorry, I’m, I’ve got Breaking bad on the brain. Alright, scene number five.
Clip: So,
Allan: [00:44:00] cue the fart montage featuring the good citizens of Letterkenny creating their profiles. It seems as if Fartbook is really uniting all the factions in Letterkenny. And, dare I say, creating a stink?
Cut to Jonesy and I thought that was going to get it all done. I did
Victor: it. I enjoyed your, uh, you know, this skit is a number two, you know, so that one landed better with me than
Allan: I made my quota then. Right. So that one was a hard. No. All right. No problem. Uh, cut the Jonesy and Riley who were in the shower together, presumably and hopefully after a hockey game.
Or practice. But they’re asking each other why Katie hasn’t liked either of their farts on, uh, Fartbook yet. Uh, next scene, scene six. The Skids are back at the produce stand with distressing news. It turns out that Gail from Modine’s there is sending spam via Fartbook.
Clip: You’ve attached messages to each of your farts, for example.[00:45:00]
Send this fart to ten people and you will have bad sex for the rest of your life. But see, I just got that message from someone else. So it’s like if I didn’t send it, then I’d be stuck having bad shaboing forever. And I enjoy a horizontal refreshment for my vertical smile. Too goddamn much to take that risk.
It’s called spamming, Gail. Never heard it called that. Heard it called spunkin one or two times. No! Sending annoying messages to people who have not requested it is called spamming! K. And it’s annoying, no? Yes, no? Yes, no?
Allan: So, yeah, Gale is a good one, isn’t she? She’s so dirty.
Victor: Just no words. I’m disappointed in Gail. I don’t know. I feel like she’s too crude and nasty. And you know, it’s like, again, you know, these are things I would have never thought about many years ago, but now watching it again, thinking, you know, why do the two, the only [00:46:00] two women so far that we’ve been exposed to one is a skank and the other one is a, you know, Uh, gets around town.
So, uh, you know, like, what’s the difference between those two? Katie’s not as nasty, nasty and vulgar as, uh, as, as, as Gail.
Tanya: I agree. She takes it too far. It is her character. Wow. I, even when, even when none of
Victor: it is, yeah, go ahead. Sorry. Even when she was
Tanya: running away and, and hopping onto her bike, like everything is very extreme.
Sorry.
Allan: The fart book board members don’t like this use of, uh, of their creation. So they threatened to suspend Gail’s membership and she doesn’t take it well.
Clip: Suspend my membership? Why don’t you suspend my fist in your ass, little fuck? If you ever threaten me like that again, I’ll spread your cheeks and I’ll feed you a Kentucky Klondike by your little twat.
I’m jumping out of that hot pocket, you’re a deuce maker, Charlie!
Allan: She is the most vulgar character on the show, like by a mile.
Victor: Yeah, like there’s [00:47:00] only two women so far. Why can’t we have like, you know, one nice woman? Oh my
Mat: god. So you, so I watched this episode today and I had captioning on. It wasn’t on purpose, I just couldn’t figure out how to fucking turn it off.
But what I realized, there was a benefit to that because I lose a lot of the dialogue because it goes so fast, especially with Gale. And, I mean, I don’t remember though all, but there was a lot of things I was laughing at as she was like going away on the bike and she’s like, muttering shit. And the dialogue was coming up on the screen about pop carts and other shit.
I, I was dying just reading, I was reading the whole episode just because I’m like, this is a better way to watch the show.
Allan: Well, yeah, you don’t miss anything and hope Yeah, we should
Tanya: try that.
Allan: Well, but you hope that, that the caption, the closed captions actually are, are accurate. ’cause I saw an interview once with, um, Jacob Tierney, the, the co-writer of, of the show, and he said that often those captions aren’t.
Very accurate. So, I don’t know. I don’t know if I’d
Mat: trust them. Yeah, I don’t know if it was accurate, but I got enough out of it that it kept me laughing.
Allan: [00:48:00] Yes, for sure. Yeah.
Mat: There’s some
Victor: humor, but I don’t like it. I don’t like it.
Allan: Okay, we’ll put you down as a, uh, hard no for Gail then. Um, let’s see here, Fart Book Board, the Fart Book Board then summon Katie to face the board.
It seems Katie has been posting cute kitten farts instead of her own. Uh, this too is frowned upon by the board.
Clip: Nobody cares
Allan: about your cat’s
Clip: farts. But look how cute they are. Not to be impolite, but you’re the only one who thinks so. Everybody who’s got a cat or a kid is gonna think their cat’s or kid’s farts are super special and unique.
They’re not. They’re just a cat or a kid fart.
Allan: So, Victor. Yes, sir. How’s Pumpkin?
Victor: Pumpkin is, uh, wonderful. She’s magnificent. She’s glorious. Uh, and, uh, we love her very much. And I don’t think I’ve ever heard her fart twice. Oh, that was my next question. Yeah, so, so I, [00:49:00] and so I didn’t really connect to that.
I’ve had two cats in my, uh, lifetime and, uh, they, they poop a lot and they pee a lot and they have hairballs, but I, I, I don’t think farting is a big part of their repertoire. I, I think it’s more of a dog thing. Yeah, I think cats are a little more sophisticated that way.
Allan: Oh boy, that coming from a cat person.
Victor: There we go. They’re a little more demure, uh, about their, uh, you know, hygiene and, and whatnot, so.
Allan: So you get the impression Wayne isn’t a fan of kids or cats. Uh, the hockey players show up to complain that Katie hasn’t liked any of their farts, but she has liked Stuart’s farts. Uh, they think it sends a wrong message, like maybe she wants to get with Stuart because she likes his farts and not theirs.
And next up to the Inquisition is Pastor Glenn, his crime against Fartbook. Do I even need to play the clip?
Victor: Wait, are you going to gloss past the fact that they’re doing a [00:50:00] pan and there’s somebody that Was it him or was it another guy in the church that was finishing up?
Allan: Oh, that was during the fart montage, oh yeah.
That
Victor: was Glenn. Yeah, that was Glenn. I thought that was Glenn. There
Mat: you go. I thought he was just starting.
Victor: I thought he was just finishing.
Mat: You
Victor: don’t know
Allan: if he was coming or going.
Mat: Something bad was going on in church. Now,
Tanya: was that because of a fetish on the fart or was there something else that he was previewing?
Well, no,
Victor: no, he was, he was dead clearly watching the Facebook and having a good time with it. Part of the fart. We learned,
Allan: we learned that he, he enjoys farting. Partaking in, not partaking in, but watching or listening to farts.
Mat: Fart warrior. He’s part of the fart culture. He’s
Allan: a fart warrior. So let’s see.
The Inquisition of Pastor Glenn. His crime against fart book is being a creeper. Glenn puts on a fatal attraction like interrogation scene.
Clip: Daryl, Ragemonkeys, [00:51:00] Daniel. Ragemonkeys. We’ve summoned you here today to talk to you about your fartbug profile. Allons y! You have no photos and no farts. But are friends with everyone along for the test drive?
I’m not friends with everyone. I’m not friends with Wayne yet. But I want to be. It seems as though you were just cruising through Farbook, liking and commenting on everyone’s farts, but contributing nothing yourself. I am as God made me. Blessed with a very healthy gastrointestinal system. What you’re doing is called creeping.
Not what fart book is all about. I genuinely enjoy farts. You can’t just go around creeping other people’s farts!
Allan: So I think what this episode proves, though, is that Hicks and Skids can get along and work together when they have a common goal. In
Mat: this case Hey, I gotta correct you. You said fatal attraction there.
This is not fatal attraction. It’s just basic instinct. Oh, shit. You’re right. Basic instinct. Yeah,
Allan: that’s what I meant. Yeah. [00:52:00] Because he even does the leg cross, uh, uncrossing and crossing and
Mat: Yeah. With the cigarette and all.
Allan: Rage Mon I love his, uh, his nickname for the Skids, Rage Monkeys. Daring, Rage Monkeys, Dwayne.
Mat: I mean, it’s basically describing my life on Facebook right now. I mean, I go on a daily, but I don’t think I post anything almost ever.
Allan: So you’re a creeper. All right.
Mat: 100%. All
Allan: right. Scene number seven. The Hicks are having second thoughts about Fart Book.
Clip: I think we should pump the brakes on Fart Book. To Texas size 10 4.
Why? It’s kicking up too much dust. We haven’t even gotten into it and already folks are getting chapped asses. Well, that’s their problem, not ours. We started Fartbook so that good folks could share farts with other good folks. That’s it. Not creeping farts or spam farts. Although if you eat spam, you’ll get good farts.
Farts should never come between the love of a man and a woman. Not right. You don’t get to 500 million farts [00:53:00] without making a few sharts. Exactly. So what are you saying? Artbook dies today. Today? Artbook is dead. Oh, you think so? I’m with the fellas on this one. It’s not why we invented it. Ha! You invented it!
Our idea! We built this site!
Allan: Uh, the board argues, but in the end the three hicks out vote and out slap the two skids, sending them away with their tails between their legs. Uh, so, so much for cooperation between two factions.
Mat: Two
Victor: factions, eh?
You’re giving them a lot of sophistication here.
Allan: Well, yeah, I mean, these are sophisticated matters. Uh, next scene, scene number eight, the Hicks are out in the canoe.
Do you, uh, do you spend a lot of time, uh, with two of your best buddies in a canoe together?
Clip: It [00:54:00]
Allan: seems like an odd scene, um, and they’re talking about what else? Fart book.
Clip: Nope. We’re thinking about fart book. What about it, big shits? Maybe we pulled the cord too quick on that, you parachute. I miss it too, three point shoots.
I was on there a lot. Too much, likely. I was always checking it. It was very addicting. Except you never really stopped to think about one thing, did ya? Ripping farts into your computer doesn’t exactly spike the likelihood of having sex with girls.
Allan: There’s another. What
Clip: girls?
Victor: What girls?
Allan: Calm down, Victor.
What
Victor: girls? Somebody show me the girls.
Allan: They’re coming. They’re coming, Victor. Don’t worry. Be patient. They’re coming.
Mat: Yeah, your sister and the bartender. Yeah,
Allan: so far. But they’re coming. Slim pickings. Yeah, slim pickings. The skids show up to inform the Hicks that Pastor Glenn has stolen Fart Book.
Tanya: Okay, can we just note, though, in that canoe, they didn’t even have a [00:55:00] fishing pole.
It was three dudes sitting like. Two feet away from shore with life jackets on that in water, like up to their knees. I
Victor: thought Squirrely Dan was the only one with a life jacket. He
Allan: was, he was the only one. I made note of that. Wayne was
Mat: just totally relaxed and just enjoying the ride.
Allan: I’m wondering if that’s because the real actor who plays Squirrely Dan is a city boy and he was probably nervous being in a canoe.
Victor: Well, he had good reason. I wouldn’t be
Allan: surprised. Even though he was in like, uh, you know, two feet deep water.
Victor: People have drowned in their bathtubs, my friend.
Allan: Yeah, fair enough. Uh, scene number nine. The Hicks and Skids go to the church to confront Glenn.
Clip: You stole our idea. Mmm. Are you referring to Christian Fartmingle?
What’s that? It’s not Christian Mingle. But they’re farts. We asked you to help with our idea, then you went behind our back, and you stole it. I didn’t, excuse, I, oh my gourd. Those are some hairy [00:56:00] allegations that you are firing. At my face. All y’all allegations, all of them, completely freaking false, baseless.
Allan: Uh, I love the, the, when they walk in, they’re walking in slow motion to some heavy industrial music, and uh, especially Devin, he’s like crossing himself. But with his middle fingers up and, and, uh, Stuart has his cross upside down and he’s like cursing the entire, it’s just so funny.
Victor: You missed the best soundbite from, from that scene.
What’s that? I haven’t seen five guys, uh, come in the church or whatever, I totally blew it, but It was funny. That was, that was a,
Mat: that was a solid line. Imagine the humor.
Victor: That was a solid
Allan: line. It
Victor: can’t be verbatim. It has to be. I mean, it can’t be, it has to be verbatim.
Allan: Sorry, that’s a failure on my part. I should have clipped that line because that was a good line.
Mat: We need to [00:57:00] coordinate better because even in the previous scene you missed Devin tapping into the Winklevoss twins again. Like I said, he hit multiple characters. Yeah,
Allan: yeah, I was,
Mat: yeah,
Allan: that was good. I was just, uh, approaching 19 clips and it was just getting way too long. And I didn’t think we were going to be spending this much time.
I thought we’d be done this episode by now. So I’m actually kind of surprised. Uh, we’re, we’re going on almost to an hour. Um, Glenn claims that taking advantage of a current trend is not stealing. And then Glenn gives a lesson on fart culture. He shows them the site, plenty of farts. Fart filter, and a whole site devoted to gluten free farts, etc.
Uh, scene number nine, back at the produce stand, the Hicks are licking their wounds and drinking their sorrows.
Clip: Better slow down there, big shoots. Tomorrow’s gonna be a great day for hay. If you can be a man at night, you can be a man in the morning. Wayne, how come you didn’t join Fartbox? You’re not supposed to fart in front of girls.
What?! There’s certain things that should stay sacred between a man and a woman. So all things considered, this whole thing’s [00:58:00] pretty fucking juvenile if I do say so myself. If she’s always listening to your ass acoustics, or even worse, smelling them, I guarantee she’ll be slower and slower to crawl into bed with you at night.
What you just said is outrageous. No it isn’t, it’s true. I don’t wanna be smelling a dude’s ass all the time, get real. What are you, some kind of fart purist? That’s what you’re supposed to do, just hold it in. Or take a shit, you fucking degenerate.
Mat: So there’s one line that stood out in there, and the whole thing, and it’s gonna be an odd one, is the Uh, you be a man at night, you be a man in the morning.
Allan: So
Mat: that is actually something I have lived my life in some ways around based on my best friend’s father saying that to us when we got shittered at a party underage years ago.
I drank more than I could ever imagine and the next morning, I think it was like 6 a. m., he kicked our asses out of beds and said, Get the fuck up. Get your day started and he is like, you’re gonna party like a man at night. You’re gonna get up like a man in the morning.
Allan: That’s funny you say
Mat: that and it’s always, it’s always [00:59:00] stuck with me
Allan: because that’s my Wayne’s word of wisdom.
Number four, you can be a man at night. You can be a man in the morning because that’s totally something I can hear him learning from his dad or something. Like, if you’re gonna get a drinking and, and be hungover in the morning, you better be ready to, to do some chores. Absolutely. For sure. And uh, and also in that same scene, his, uh, word of wisdom number five.
Clip: If she’s always listening to your ass acoustics, or even worse, spamming them, I guarantee she’ll be slower and slower to crawl into bed with you at night.
Allan: Yeah, so, this is
Victor: Ass acoustics.
Allan: I love it.
Victor: That, that, that’s begging to be a song.
Allan: Get your, get your guitar, Victor.
Victor: Alright.
Allan: Squirrely Dan shares a story about his cousin who got into guerrilla shitting, on account of the show Jackass being so popular back in high school.
Uh, during one of these guerrilla shitting episodes, the following happens.
Clip: So he drinks a coffee, eats a bread muffin, heads on down to the washroom there, but when he opens the bathroom door, what does he find? But this pretty young girl just dropping her shits right [01:00:00] there in the middle of the bathroom floor.
And that’s how he met his lovely Eunice, and they fell in love, and they’ve been together ever since. They raised three little shits. So, with all due respect, Miss Katie, there is a market for gentlemen what can find ladies who like, uh, farts, or shits, or even gorilla shittins. That is not a true story. Is a true story.
I
Allan: hope
Clip: it’s all
Allan: someone for everyone. There’s someone for everyone. Uh, and, uh, so the final clip here, Wayne proceeds to berate, uh, squirrelly Dan and dairy for having to put all their business online. So this is where we go back to the beginning of the episode, Victor, and you talk about like, there’s like one main kind of, uh, Lesson or, or, or moral or whatever to this episode.
And to me, I think it’s this, I think it’s the whole, you know, anti social media sentiment. And, uh, and I think, uh, Wayne kind of puts it succinctly here.
Clip: I don’t know what, I don’t know why you guys need [01:01:00] everybody, you know, in your business anyway. Like why you got to put everything on the internet while you’re doing it?
Or after you’re done doing it. Well, if you don’t puts it on the internet, how’s gonna people know what you did? You wanna know what? That’s the problem right there. You should be playing your cards close to your chest. Keep the ladies guessing a little bit. Be the mystery man. Right again. I don’t know.
Woman’s not gonna love me for my farts or me posting my bowling scores on the internet. Not really sure I want one. Then it’s a good thing you two have each other.
Allan: Or, or my letter. Kent podcast. Yeah. Um, so , and that’s where I have my last, uh, word, Wayne’s word of wisdom here. Number six, keep the ladies guessing
Clip: a little bit.
Be the
Allan: mystery man. So I, I think this, uh, this, uh, episode was rich in, in words of wisdom from Wayne. Yeah. Uh, so yeah, I think this whole episode, you know, again, to me it was kind of a one trick thing, but I think in the end the message was clear. Like it’s kind of an anti-social media episode as far as I’m concerned.
And, uh, you know, at least it shows where Wayne stands on on the matter. [01:02:00] Uh, the final scene, scene 10, Stewart is in his lair and he’s creeping Katie’s fa Facebook or fart book page and listening to her fart, uh, cat farts repeatedly. So, uh, that, that’s the, I didn’t pull a clip ’cause uh, it was just a bunch of ca cat farts, but we’re, we’re starting to see
Allegedly. Allegedly, yeah. Uh, we’re starting to see that, uh, Stuart is, is developing some feelings for, uh, for Katie and, and maybe perhaps she’s doing the same for him. Uh, and then there’s the post credit scene. And again, you want to talk about, uh, character development. Uh, did you guys stick around for the post credit scene?
Victor: My version did not have a post credit scene, so, uh, I didn’t get to, uh, enjoy that.
Allan: It’s okay.
Mat: I thought I tuned out a little bit. I’m not gonna lie.
Allan: Yeah, it’s okay because, I mean, the whole, uh, the scene in a nutshell is Devin is kind of sitting somewhere on his own reading a book [01:03:00] and Stuart comes up to Devin and Devin quickly throws the book away because he doesn’t want to be caught reading whatever he’s reading.
And, uh, we learn that it’s It’s not nihilism. It’s magical realism that he’s, anyway, it’s, it’s, it, it, it all went over my head only to, the only thing that I kind of got from it is that Stuart or Devin’s character is a little more deep than, than, uh, Maybe he shows, he portrays as a member of the Skids and maybe he doesn’t, you know, 100 percent follow everything that the Skids are doing, uh, and apparently what they read and who they read is very important and is worthy of argument.
But anyway, it’s, it’s, yeah, it’s a very kind of weird scene and, and, For sure. I only caught like bits and pieces of it. Cause I didn’t know any of the authors they were talking about.
Mat: I think the one that ultimately was like, uh, was it, or is it Haruki? No, or more or not more Kami.
Allan: Yeah.
Mat: Am I saying that right?
So Haruki and more a comic.
Allan: Yeah. So, I mean, it’s just a little [01:04:00] more kind of just an insight into, uh, I guess how the skids are with each other. All right, uh, because I was in a hurry and I didn’t get the music together for this one, but, uh, there’s, uh, some, uh, repeat offenders on the soundtrack. Kaboom Atomic, uh, is on there again.
Uh, you can check out, uh, uh, the music from this, uh, from this episode on the produce stand podcast playlist on Spotify. Um, I would have played you one of the other songs, but again, I ran out of time. Um, so let’s start with, um. Episode ratings today. We’ll start with Tanya this time. Uh, what would you give spark book a rating of, and let me remind people of what the rating system is.
If I can just bring it up here. I keep on trying to click our website, but I, uh, keep missing it.
Tanya: It’s [01:05:00] fresh clearance or compost.
Allan: That’s right. Fresh clearance or compost. So Tanya, what would you What rating would you give this, uh, episode, Fart Book?
Tanya: Uh, I’m gonna surprise myself on this one and give it a f frat.
What?!
Allan: Do it. Do it!
Clip: Do
Allan: it! Push it through! Push it through! Don’t push too hard, though. Ha ha ha! Ha ha ha! Ha
Mat: ha ha! Wow. I believe we led an episode zero with you saying this was your hatred.
Tanya: I was
Mat: so,
Tanya: I know, I know I am just as surprised as everyone here. This is
Allan: the TSN turning point. I think when I would
Tanya: ever known and not saying that I love the show, but I, I did.
I like this one. I don’t know. I don’t know.
Allan: I can’t. My mind is blown. Victor. I’m Victor.
Victor: Uh begrudgingly, I have to give it a fresh rating. Um, you know, with all the hype, [01:06:00] uh, or anti hype coming into it, I expected to hate it. And then I realized, uh, I’m not hating it. And halfway through, I’m thinking this is probably an easy, um, uh, clearance, uh, you know, but, but a quality premium clearance items.
Um, and, and, and then by the end of it, it was, it was definitely fresh. Uh, and right now easily jumps to the top of my list as my favorite episode and not because of the farting. We’ll get
Allan: we’ll get to that but uh, wow, i’m i’m
Tanya: And you know what though that all being said I could have absolutely done without the whole Um church portion of it.
Clip: Oh, okay. I
Tanya: thought that went way too far Very strange. I don’t know what character we’re setting up for that guy, but
Victor: I’m very uncomfortable with him. I don’t want, he’s right out of South Park. Like, you know, that kind of, yeah. Pedophile character. I could have done with that. Exactly. And I don’t understand why we need a pedophile on the show.
And plus, [01:07:00] And there’s that crossover, there’s that uncomfortable crossover of him being gay and a pedophile and the two things have nothing to do with each other. And I think that that’s the two, I don’t like it.
Allan: So what, okay. Uh, the gay part I get, but where are you getting the pedophile vibes?
Victor: Nothing at all, except that he’s exactly like the South Park character.
Okay. Okay. So that’s
Allan: all you’re basing it on. Okay. That’s fine.
Victor: It’s his accent. It’s the accent that makes him sound like you’re very creepy. You’re not gay, but you’re, you’re, you’re, you might be gay, but you’re not weird because you’re gay. You’re weird because you’re creepy. Sure.
Tanya: Okay. They seem to always have that kind of uncomfortable skit where it’s like, Oh, they’re going too far with this character.
Like it’s just uncomfortable. Like the whole Gail part, uh, her, her section and, and the church section, those two characters, they’re just uncomfortable. characters. All right. Fair enough.
Victor: Yeah. And probably [01:08:00] purposefully. Yeah. So let’s see where they’re going to go with it. I’m hoping that there’s, there’s a come up and for it somehow, somewhere.
Allan: All right. Yeah. Uh, Matt, what’s your reading?
Mat: Uh, I think I might actually surprise you a little. Um, I’m gonna give this one a clearance. I, uh,
Clip: Sorry,
Mat: um, I’ll see and I’ll explain. So I, I loved it. Um, to start. And I laugh my ass off because I’m a child and far jokes are hilarious. But I got bored. I’m not going to lie about halfway in the episode. I was kind of like, just waiting for it to end. I kind of knew what’s going on. I, and I think, I don’t know, I can’t remember how you described it out, but those episodes that sort of really disconnect from the last rest of the show.
I’ve never been a fan of that in any series. So even if they’re good, they feel uncomfortable as a whole. So I’ve never been a big fan of it. Any show that does episodes like that in any [01:09:00] capacity. So yeah, I’m going to stick with my clearance on this one.
Allan: Wow. All right. I got to tell you guys, I’m really torn between giving this a clearance or a compost and I feel like I’m, uh, I feel like I should give it a clearance because I the only reason I’d give it a compost is because I’ve gone through the entire series and this is by far my least favorite episode.
So I’m like rating it on a bell curve. So I’m, I’m, I’m torn, uh, I think, but
Tanya: you already know the characters at this.
Allan: I know that’s why you’re
Tanya: a level, you know, who you’re looking at.
Allan: So it’s funny. So the two guys who’ve seen this or remember watching this most clearly, um, both, both Matt and I, um, Are not as high on the episode as, uh, as you and Victor are, uh, having seen it for, well, Victor, I think you saw it before too, but maybe I
Victor: saw it a couple of years ago,
Allan: but you don’t remember, but Tanya, your first time watching it and you give
Tanya: goodness.
Yeah.
Allan: So I don’t know. I mean, I think it’ll, so given [01:10:00] that, like, uh, uh, uh, give, I’m, I’m admitting my bias. So I think I’m just going to give it a clearance because yeah. I think it would be unfair for me to give it a compost because, and it’s funny, because this podcast is, makes it, it was a lot more fun to record than actually watching the episode last night.
Um, but, uh, all right, we’ll get, I’m going to give it a clearance. So now we’re going to go to our ratings. Uh, we’ll start, I’ll start with Victor here. So right now you have a super soft birthday is your number one and ain’t no reason to get excited as your number two, where would you rank fart book?
Victor: A squirrely, Dan, with his, um, uh, articulate, uh, explanation of how the internet works.
that is a great scene. Just, just, yeah. This, this one rises to the top and, and I’ll be surprised, uh, if this gets knocked off anytime soon. Really?
Clip: Like
Victor: that, that, that scene for me was just beauty. It was, I’ll give you that. It was amazing. You know what? It was amazing, but it
Mat: [01:11:00] wasn’t enough to, to hold the whole episode.
Victor: So, well, yeah, but, but if we’re going to talk about biases, I mean, for you, your time was running out and you needed the episode to end just to make it on time for the podcast. So that’s
Allan: funny. Yeah. Um, you know what, that scene there, um, uh, you’re right. That, that internet scene is probably what saved it from compost for me.
Cause you’re that, that is a really funny scene. Okay. So that’s your number one, uh, Matt.
Mat: Yeah, put it at the bottom for now.
Allan: Yeah.
Mat: I think we’re only on a scale of three right now, so it fits at three.
Allan: Yeah. You know what? Yeah, this is good. I mean, we have to have some, some conflict, right? And I think this is good.
Uh, it’s, it would be boring if we all agreed. Tanya, where would you put this?
Tanya: Uh, I’m going to stick it at the top. I hate saying that. Wow. Wow. Ugh. Ugh. Jeremy,
Mat: that was a big glass of wine, wasn’t it?
Allan: You realize that your reaction to this [01:12:00] episode when I first watched it is kind of the whole basis for this podcast.
Tanya: Looking forward to this one at all. No, I’m telling you. I’m I’m shocked that I’m even now. I don’t know, but it changed,
Victor: but Al, this is Tanya’s reasoning for this explains that this this episode is not just a combination of random, um, slapstick humor. It is a beginning to end story, uh, that did have some depth to it because you can’t watch every Segments of it and enjoy it because if you watch segments of it, you’re going to say, what the fuck is this
Clip: and what’s
Victor: wrong with you for watching it.
But if you’re watching from beginning to end and you see that there’s a little bit more depth to it and, um, it works, it works.
Allan: I agree. I agree with that premise, but, uh, it’s still a clearance with me and it’s definitely number three on my list right now. All right. So we got two number ones and one and two number threes.
This is, uh, this is great. We’re finally starting to, to, you know, uh, diverge our, our, uh, [01:13:00] Our interests here
Victor: and the irony of not having any number twos.
Allan: Who does number two work for? Uh, let’s see here. Okay. So do you guys have any final before we wrap it up? Any final words, Tanya?
Tanya: Um, I’m on the spot. No, um, no final words for me.
Allan: I, you know what? I’m, I’m, I’m feeling you’re rejuvenated though, cause I was like the last couple episodes, I feel like, you know, you were kind of losing steam, but the fact that you rated this number one, I feel like we’re on an upward trend here.
Oh, don’t get too
Tanya: excited now.
Allan: Victor, any final words?
Victor: Uh, yeah, two of not one. I’m, I’m encouraged and excited. Hopefully I’m not foolishly that you said that this is the worst episode, so I can only expect it to get better, but we’ll see. And, uh, and the other final note is there’s two minutes left in the first time period.
Um, so we’ll see what [01:14:00] happens
Allan: over time. I hate you. All right, cool. Um, and okay. I, I think it’s the worst episode, but by, by, I mean, just, By the way, this, uh, podcast went, we seem to have a bit of conflicting opinions. So we’ll see. We’ll see what you say, uh, Matt.
Mat: I don’t know if you can hear me. I’m having real computer problems here, but I’m going to wait.
Allan: Yeah, we
Mat: can. Um, yeah, I mean, I, I, I, I do slightly recall some of the stuff as it comes. So I know it gets worse in some cases. Um, but yeah, for now, this was not a big winner for me. I don’t like the disconnect from the story.
I don’t like this. I mean, I had some fun with it because I’m a movie buff and there’s a lot of references, a lot of things I, I tied to things that I do love, um, but I mean, it was fine. I’m looking forward to more.
Allan: Yeah. Uh, so again, to me, it was a one trick pony kind of episode. Uh, it’s also just the one [01:15:00] storyline throughout the whole thing.
Usually we have a couple of different Things happening in an episode and this one was just very narrowly focused and, and unfortunately to me, the focus didn’t hit home. So anyway, uh, I am looking forward to future episodes and, and, uh, and, um, again, I’m, I’m actually even more looking forward to it now because I feel like Tanya might be, uh, we might get
Tanya: yourself excited.
Allan: Tanya might be getting on board here. All right, guys, uh, we’re going to sign off here. And that’s all we have for this episode.
