On October 24th, I told you about Alex Tew’s brilliant million-dollar idea; where he thought he could sell 1 million pixels worth of advertising for $1/pixel.

On the date the post was written, Alex had managed to sell $480,400 worth of pixels in less than 2 months. Not too shabby! Since I’ve become obsessed with his not-so-little-anymore venture, I thought I’d give you an update on how he’s doing.

Since that post, Alex has gone on a 1-week US press junket where he did interviews with various media outlets (newspaper, radio and T.V.) on both coasts. I figured that this tour was all he needed in order to get that final push to ultimate success. I was right.

After a bit of a lull in pixel sales (that is, he was only selling hundreds a day instead of thousands), volume has come back up to new levels.

Not only has Alex broken the half-million-dollar mark, he has shattered it. As of right now (and I say that because he just sold another 3,000 pixels since I’ve begun typing) Alex’s total earnings for this venture is $793,900. He’s $6,100 away from reaching 80% of his ultimate goal with no sign of a slowdown in sight. On November 28th, he wrote in his blog celebrating the 700,000 pixel mark, today, it looks as if he’ll reach 800,000 pixels. That’s $100,000 in 4 days! Not bad for a university student who was broke only 3 months ago.

Whoops, he just sold another 100 pixels, it’s really quite extraordinary!

I’d better stop typing before he sells more. He should really provide a ticker feed for sites so that we can just display his progress. That would be much easier.

And there goes another 100 pixels!

As of the end of this post, Alex’s new total is 794,100 so in the time it took me to type this, he has made $3,200.
