Do You Reckon?

Listening to the latest episode of Greendale Human Podcasters and it occurred to me, the only people who use the word ‘reckon’ in a sentence as in ‘I reckon…’ are Australians and American ‘Cowboys’. Why is that? I reckon I’ll try to use it more often.
