About Saturday Night…

When I got to Donaleigh’s last night to setup for our show, it looked like it was going to be one of those nights. The back room was completely empty.

As I mentioned before, long weekend shows are hit and miss. This being the last official weekend of the summer meant we could be in for a quiet night. Folks are at the cottage or taking their kids to school. But Barrie is a college town, so there was some hope that the students might be back and ready to party.

I heard a few Donaleigh’s staff talk about how happy they were to have a band that night, because the last few bands had cancelled. I took this as a promising sign that the patronage were hungry for live music.

I usually get in early because I like to take my time setting up. By the time we did our soundcheck, the once-empty back area was full! Folks were there specifically for live music. Some of them specifically for us!

Usually, as the night goes along, we need to warm the crowd up before they start singing and dancing. This crowd was ready from the get-go!

We tried a few new songs out and they went over really well, like this classic Pat Benatar jam:

…and of course, we played our usual mix of older and newer party anthems…

As you can see, it was yet another fun night at Donaleigh’s! If you’ve never been, you’re really missing out!

Our next show is September 27th back at Donaleigh’s.
